§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether there are any officials employed by his Department who are currently not filling a post.
§ Mr. Heseltine:At 1 August 1982, 74 officials employed by my Department were not filling a post in the Department; these included people on long-term training courses, paid maternity leave or unpaid leave for domestic or other reasons. In addition, 624 staff were on loan or secondment to other Government Departments, fringe bodies, local authorities or the private sector.
