§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government that council house rents should form an increasing proportion of local government finance.
§ Mr. Stanley:My right hon. Friend takes a view for each financial year of the resources which can be applied to current and capital expenditure within the amount available for housing nationally. The assumed income from council house rents which is taken into account in this process is thus settled on an annual basis, and not as a preconceived proportion of expenditure.
