§ Mr. McMahonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many officers are involved in investigations of the black economy in Northern Ireland; and how many prosecutions have taken place in the most recent convenient period for tax evasion in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. Ridley:The prevention and detection of tax evasion forms part of the normal duties of the majority of the staff of the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise based in Northern Ireland. There were three prosecutions for tax evasion in Northern Ireland in the year to 31 March 1982.
