§ Mr. EyreIt is not possible to present comparable information on road and railway casualties because of difference in coverage of casualties and differences in the definitions of severity of injury. the available information is summarised in tables 2.40 and 3.26 of "Transport Statistics Great Britain 1971–1981", available in the Library. Further details of the railway accidents distinguishing the different sorts of accident involving employees, customers, trespassers and so on are given in the Department of Transport annual "Railway Accidents" report, just published, and also available in the Library.
