HC Deb 30 November 1982 vol 33 c132W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the latest estimate of the possible clawback due to the pension increase being ahead of the latest inflation rate.

Mr. Rossi

This November's increase of 11 percent was based on a forecast of a 9 per cent. rise in prices in the 12 months to November. The actual rise in prices will not be known until mid-December, but the available figures to October suggest that it will be below 7 percent. Decisions on the level of increase in social security benefits in November 1983 will not be taken until the time of the next Budget.
