§ Mr. Canavanasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the total area and value of forest land sold or in the process of being sold under the Forestry Act 1981.
§ Mrs. FennerFrom the passing of the Forestry Act 1981 until 21 November 1982, the Forestry Commission received £12.1 million from the sale of land and other assets. The area involved included 5,954 hectares of forestry land and plantations. As at 21 November a further 38,900 hectares of forestry land and plantations with an estimated value of £26 million were also in the process of being sold—that is, they were either on the market or had been approved for sale and reserve prices had been fixed. Other assets committed for sale at 21 November are expected to realise a further £4.9 million.
Area figures for other assets, which include residential properties, are not held centrally and cannot be obtained except at disproportionate cost.
