HC Deb 29 November 1982 vol 33 c89W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the companies that have relocated to the Speke enterprise zone; and in each case (a) how many jobs each has provided and (b) where each was previously sited.

Mr. King

The companies which by 31 May this year, the latest date for which detailed information is available, had relocated to the Speke enterprise zone were:

  1. 1. Vestric
  2. 2. Metal Box PLC
  3. 3. Miner Industrial and Sportswear Ltd.

The first two come from elsewhere in Liverpool and the last from St. Helens. Since then I understand that EIE (English Industrial Estates corporation) has disposed of 18 of its "beehive" units and that the British Leyland plant has been sold to a local developer.

Information about employment in individual firms was gathered in confidence and the figures about jobs in each firm cannot be released.
