§ 42. Mr. Willeyasked the Secretary of State for Industry what compensation has been paid to each of the shipbuilding and marine engine companies entitled to compensation under the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977; what amounts remain to be paid; and when a decision is expected on the companies which complained to the European Commission of Human Rights.
§ Mr. ButcherThe last compensation payment under the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977 was completed in November 1981. No further payments remain to be made. I will arrange for details of the amounts paid in respect of companies vested in British Shipbuilders to be published in theOfficial Report. The European Commission of Human Rights is still considering the admissibility as well as the merits of the applications made to it. I cannot predict when the proceedings will be completed.
