§ Mr. Hendersonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has made representations since 1 February to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics seeking elimination of the "woodpecker" transmissions emanating from the Kiev area which interfere with United Kingdom and international radio communications.
§ Mr. OnslowAs I said in reply to my hon. Friend's question on 15 November, we have protested on a number of occasions about Soviet interference with the reception of foreign radio broadcasts. "Woodpecker" transmissions are one type of such interference. My right hon. and noble Friend Lord Carrington protested about Soviet jamming in his speech to the CSCE review meeting at Madrid on 12 February, and the British delegation has done so since, most recently on 16 November.—[Vol. 32, c.31.]
