HC Deb 29 November 1982 vol 33 cc78-9W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will now release Mr. Michael Fagan from Park Side special hospital.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Mr. Fagan is in Park Lane special hospital because he requires treatment in that sort of setting for his mental disorder. When his responsible medical officer considers that he no longer requires such treatment, or that his treatment can be continued safely in conditions of lesser security, he will make the necessary arrangements for discharge or transfer. I understand that Mr. Fagan has applied for his detention under the Mental Health Act 1959 to be reviewed by the mental health review tribunal.
