§ Dr. VaughanThe White Paper on "Standards, Quality and International Competitiveness" (Cmnd. 8621) made clear the Government's determination to enhance the status of standards in order to help British industry and strengthen its international competitiveness. The Government's objective is that in future regulatory bodies should as far as possible refer to British standards.
