HC Deb 29 November 1982 vol 33 c89W
Mr. Booth

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will instruct the British Railways Board that no further sales of British Transport Hotels into the private sector should take place until Her Majesty's Government have extended the scope of the Wages Council Act 1979 by order to cover those hotels.

Mr. David Howell

The exclusion relating to British Transport hotels (SI 1982–739) will automatically lapse when the hotels are privatised.

Mr. Booth

asked the Secretary of State for Transport from which merchant bank he has received financial advice regarding the sale of British Transport Hotels, other than that provided on a contract fee basis; and on what basis.

Mr. David Howell

None; but I have been informed of the advice given to the British Railways Board by Morgan Grenfell and Co. Ltd.
