Mr. David Watkinsasked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he has received any further assurances from Hanson Trust Ltd. and British Ever Ready Ltd. about the future of the United Kingdom battery industry since his hon. Friend's announcement on 12 July, 23W Official Report, c. 636–38, that assistance had been approved towards the cost of transferring the Ever Ready headquarters from London to the North-East.
§ Mr. MacGregorI have no reason to doubt that Hanson Trust Ltd. and British Ever Ready Ltd. stand by the assurances they have already given on their commitment to the United Kingdom battery industry and to the future of the British Ever Ready Company.
