§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe Department is about to issue a circular which will inform authorities of the main provisions of the new Act and give notice of the likely timing for consultation on the guidance to be given, and on the various orders and regulations which must be made before most of the Act comes into effect on 30 September 1983. In addition, we are in the course of inviting nominations widely for membership of the Mental Health Act Commission. Copies of the circular will be placed in the House of Commons Library as soon as it is issued.
