HL Deb 24 November 1982 vol 436 c964WA
Lord McCluskey

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they intend to bring into force the provisions of the Adoption (Scotland) Act 1978.

Lord Lyell

The Adoption (Scotland) Act 1978 consolidates adoption law in Scotland. Certain provisions of the Act would not have full effect if it were brought into force since several sections of the Children Act 1975, which are consolidated in it, have not yet been implemented. Implementation of these sections of the Children Act 1975, after which the Adoption (Scotland) Act 1978 could be put into effect, will depend on the availability of resources.
