§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Minister for Trade which countries have exceeded their import quotas for clothing goods to the latest date in the current year for which figures are available.
§ Mr. SproatNone. Imports of clothing for consumption in the United Kingdom from countries subject to quota arrangements require an import licence, which is counted against the relevant quota. Some very limited flexibility is allowed in the use of quotas, but once the working level for the year concerned has been reached no further licences are issued.
