§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe National Radiological Protection Board is currently reviewing the biological effects of exposure to optical radiation. Although there is evidence that high levels of exposure to natural ultra-violet radiation are an important contributor to the development of some skin cancers, the information available does not indicate any causal relationship between the emission from fluorescent lights and the induction of these cancers. It has also been known for many years that malfunctioning strip lighting can very occasionally precipitate an epileptic attack.
