§ Mr. Cartwrightasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many appeals to (a) local tribunals and (b) national insurance commissioners by widows whose pensions had been withdrawn on grounds of cohabitation were outstanding at the most recent convenient date.
§ Mr. RossiThe information is as follows. On 30 September 1982, 25 appeals to a local tribunal against an insurance officer's decision to withdraw a widow's benefit because she was living with a man as his wife had been received and were in course of preparation. A further 26 appeals had been submitted for a tribunal hearing. At the same date 13 appeals to a social security commissioner against a tribunal's decision on the same question were awaiting a commissioner's decision.
