§ Mr. Soleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of the report on the death of Shirley Woodcock, who died after being placed in a foster home by Hammersmith council, he will conduct an inquiry into the policies of Hammersmith social services committee to ensure they are sufficient to meet statutory requirements.
§ Mr. NewtonAn internal inquiry into the death of Shirley Woodcock has taken place, and the Department has asked the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham for a report on the action being taken to ensure that necessary changes are made as a result. I think this is the sensible course.
