§ Lord Stanley of Alderleyasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether the standards for intervention grain are identical in the United Kingdom and France.
Earl FerrersGrain is accepted into intervention if it has passed standards laid down in Community regulations which are applicable in all member states. The Government are aware of concern that in the United Kingdom a lower proportion of break-making wheat which has been offered for intervention has passed the prescribed machinability test than in some other member states. The reasons for this and the value of the machinability test are being discussed with the Commission.
