§ Dr. VaughanSome local authority organisations and several local authorities are concerned that the recent Divisional Court ruling in Bennett v. Markham, may lead to confusion locally as to the quantity of liquid beer which is a legal measure. Also there have been a small number of complaints from the public. Implementing section 19 would solve local authorities' difficulties, but I have yet to see firm evidence that changes adverse to consumers have resulted from recent court judgments. I am watching developments and will be prepared to act if necessary.
