asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many complaints against regional water authorities were made to the Commission for Local Administration in the last five years; and in how many cases maladministration was found.

I am informed by the Commission for Local Administration in England that, in the five years ending 31 March 1982, 230 complaints against water authorities were referred to the commissioners, and that maladministration was found in 11 cases.
