HC Deb 19 November 1982 vol 32 c298W
Mr. Carmichael

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the forecast of traffic volume use for the design standard for the M9 Stirling motorway: and what is the present measured traffic volume.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Information is not available precisely in the form requested. The M9 motorway was built as a series of links over several years. The forecast daily traffic flow for the first year of operation of each link is as follows, but these figures do not allow for the effect of completing subsequent links. Traffic census figures for each link are given for the latest available year.

M9 Link Forecast daily traffic flow for first year Traffic census figures (year of census)
Kirkliston-Newbridge 17,200 18,000 (1981)
Philpstoun-Kirkliston 7,700 9,900 (1979)
Burghmuir-Philpstoun 12,900 13,200 (1980)
Lathallan-Burghmuir 13,700 9,700 (1979)
