§ Mr. Parryasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on his recent meeting with Mr. Gromyko.
§ Mr. PymI had a meeting with Mr. Gromyko in Moscow on 15 November. Our discussions touched on a number of current issues. I emphasised the need to reach effective arms control agreements and the concern of Her Majesty's Government about Afghanistan and the situation in Poland. I made it clear that a more constructive East-West relationship is available if the Soviet leaders are willing to adopt a new approach. We also had a brief discussion on the Middle East.
