§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what inquiries have been made by his Department into the case of Mr. Trang C. Dinh, in relation to his eligibility for a grant to pursue a course at the Gwynedd technical college; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaldegraveInquiries of the Gwynedd local education authority, following the hon. Member's letter of 11 October to the Secretary of State, revealed that Mr. Dinh is in receipt of an award for a three-year course for the technician education council certificate in electronics and communications engineering. Awards for this course are made at the discretion of the local education authority and it is for them to decide whether, and at what rates and conditions, to make such awards.
