§ Mr. MayhewThe Government accept in principle the arguments for extending the franchise to British citizens living in the European Community, but they wish to see the views of the House of Commons Select Committee on Home Affairs, which is examining this question as part of its inquiry this Session into the Representation of the People Acts, as to how this should be given effect.
