§ Mr. WaldegraveI had a wide-ranging discussion with the National Union of Students on a number of points arising from its recent submission on student awards and my right hon. Friend's statement of 8 November. In the course of this I made it clear that while details of the rates and conditions of award for 1983–84 remained to be settled, I could hold out no prospect of major new resources for student support.
