HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 c233W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will seek to obtain the names of the member countries of the United Nations who are in default on their subscriptions to the United Nations; and if he will publish the list in the Official Report.

Mr. Rifkind

No member State is in default in the sense of owing an amount equalling or exceeding contributins due from it for the preceding two full years—which would result in the loss of its right to vote. Nevertheless, a total of $383 million was outstanding as at 30 September 1982, as a result of delays in payment or withholding for political reasons. The names of the member States concerned and other details are contained in United Nations document A/C.5/37/15, which is available in the Library of the House.
