HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 c255W
Mr. Waller

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, further to the reply by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to the hon. Member for Twickenham (Mr. Jessel) on 5 November, Official Report, column 8, whether he will restore the terrace of the Palace of Westminster to its original level, in view of the fact that London is now protected from a tidal surge by the completed Thames barrier.

Sir George Young

I am advised by the GLC that it would be imprudent to do so until there is ample experience of the operation of the barrier.
