HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 cc232-3W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what data were used by his Department in arriving at the figure of school meals price increases contributing 0.01 per cent. to the retail price index in September, in view of the fact that the outcome of the school meal census will not be known till early 1983.

Dr. Boyson

Sufficient information on school meals charges for calculating movements in the retail price index is collected regularly by the Department of Employment from a sample of local education authorities. Such information is collected from all LEAs only on an anual basis as part of my Department's October school meals census.
