Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in the case of the arrest and prosecution of supplementary benefit claimants following the "Operation Major" of the Thames Valley police, what were (i) the total cost of providing a special magistrates' court in Oxford on the afternoon and evening of 2 September including heating, lighting, maintenance, staff time and allowance to magistrates, (ii) the total cost, or the nearest estimate currently available, including legal aid to defendants where this is known, of bringing prosecutions against people arrested and (iii) the normal duty costs for, and the total number of, officers of the Thames Valley police force involved in "Operation Major" on 2 September.
