§ Mr. Norman LamontMy right hon. Friend has had a preliminary discussion with the BSC chairman about options for the corporation's future strategy and has asked him to provide further information on a range of points. The Government will then have to make a careful assessment of the position in further consultation with Mr. MacGregor. As my right hon. Friend made clear to the House on 9 November, we shall aim to come forward with decisions before the Christmas Recess, though this cannot be guaranteed.
