§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Prime Minister if it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce legislation to provide for a system of voting for the European Assembly which is the same as that in other member States; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterMember States of the European Community are required to adopt a uniform electoral 59W procedure only if it is unanimously recommended by the Council of Ministers. The Council is considering proposals for a uniform system which have been recommended by the European Parliament but it is still too early to say what decisions it will reach.
