§ Mr. Parryasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the recent elections in the Province.
§ Mr. PriorFollowing the election on 20 October, Northern Ireland now has for the first time in 8 years an elected Assembly, which, from the outset, will have a vital role in scrutinising the operation of direct rule. The Government look forward to establishing an effective working relationship with the Assembly, which will hold its first meeting on 11 November.
