§ Mr. WhitelawA total of 364 men and 153 women were appointed in the course of 1981 to the public bodies for which the Home Office is responsible. Their total membership on 31 December 1981 was 2,230 men and 970 women.
In certain cases the appointments are made on my advice by Her Majesty the Queen or my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister; or by other Ministers with whom I share responsibility for a particular body.
