HC Deb 20 May 1982 vol 24 c172W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much money the United Kingdom has allocated for the land resettlement programme in Zimbabwe during the current financial year.

Mr. Neil Marten

Britain has pledged £30 million to assist the Zimbabwe Government with land resettlement. £20 million of this has been committed to the first resettlement programme, and over £11 million has already been allocated to specific projects within this programme.

Actual expenditure was £2.6 million in 1981–82. Expenditure in the current financial year will depend on the rate at which claims are submitted by the Zimbabwe Government.
