§ Mr. John Huntasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, pending the introduction of legislation to increase the maximum prizes for gaming machines in public houses, he will exercise his existing statutory powers to permit the present prize levels to be increased in line with inflation.
§ Mr. WhitelawIn February 1981 the maximum money prize payable by gaming machines in public houses was increased from 50p to £1 and the maximum non-monetary prize from £1 to £2. These changes took account of inflation and I have no plans for a further increase at present.
