§ 38. Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent representations he has received as to the level of provision of playing fields.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneI have received representations from some sporting bodies about the alleged disposal of school playing fields in England. A check through the regional councils for sport and recreation revealed that none were being disposed of unnecessarily. The Sports Council and the Central Council of Physical Recreation are continuing to monitor the general situation. Representations about specific sites in England are being dealt with by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science, and in Wales by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
