§ Sir Keith JosephIn addition to the policy set out in the recent draft statement on the reform of examinations at 16-plus the Government will shortly be making a statement about the introduction of a new pre-vocational qualification for young people aged 17-plus. The Department has also received comments on the merits and feasibility of introducing intermediate level examinations for A-level candidates wishing to broaden their sixth form education. I shall be considering whether the ideas in the Government's consultative paper can be further developed.
