§ Mr. Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what contribution his Department plans to make to mark the United Nations World Environment Day on 5 June, with particular reference to the year's theme: "For Every Child a Tree".
§ Mr. HeseltineMy Department will be contributing to a number of special events on and around World Environment Day, which this year will also mark the tenth anniversary of the Stockholm conference on the human environment. In particular my right hon. Friend the Minister for Local Government and Environmental Services will be taking part in a tree-planting ceremony on Parliament Hill Fields organised by the Tree Council in pursuit of an initiative by the United Nations Environment Programme. In his address, he will be encouraging young people to take up the theme "For Every Child a Tree".
