§ Mr. MayhewAs my right hon. Friend indicated in his response to the report from the Select Committee on Home Affairs on deaths in custody on 11 November 1980—[Vol. 992, c.151–2]—we accept the principle that all deaths in custody should be reported to the coroner that inquests should be held with a jury on all such deaths, and that coroners' juries should be selected by the process used for juries in other courts. These matters will require legislation in due course. We have no other plans to amend the law relating to coroners' courts.
