§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Prime Minister if, pursuant to her answer to the hon. Member for Lewisham, West on 10 May, she will set out in the Official Report the arrangements which apply to the permanent secretary to the Lord Chancellor.
§ The Prime MinisterThe arrangements are contained in section 92(1) to (3) of the Supreme Court Act 1981, which provides that the permanent secretary to the Lord Chancellor shall vacate his office at the end of the completed year of service in the course of which he attains the age of 72 years. There is provision for continuance in service until the age of 75 years, on the authorisation of the Lord Chancellor.
