§ Mr. Adam ButlerDuring the financial year 1981–82 the Department of Commerce paid standard capital grant of £6,501,000 to the textiles industry and £297,000 to the clothing and footwear industry in Northern Ireland. Details of the amounts of selective financial assistance paid to separate industrial sectors are not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. However, during 1981–82 agreements were signed in respect of offers of selective assistance amounting to £5,773,000 to the textiles industry and £1,859,000 to the clothing and footwear industry.
