§ Mr. Proctorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in the light of the cost of the Falklands task force operation, he has any plans to modify his public expenditure forecasts; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Brittan[pursuant to his reply, 4 May 1982, c. 36]: There have been no changes in the public expenditure plans in Cmnd. 8494 as a result of the Falklands operation. At this stage the extra costs represent a small proportion of the defence budget. They will be met in ways that are consistent with the Government's economic strategy.
