Mr. Strang

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many (a) local authority and (b) private houses have been standing empty for up to one year and over one year, respectively, in the city of Edinburgh housing area;

(2) what is the latest estimate of the number of homeless people in the city of Edinburgh housing area; and what proportion of this number is (a) single homeless, (b) single parents, (c) disabled, (d) mentally or physically handicapped and (e) elderly;

(3) how many (a) local authority and (b) private houses have been built in the city of Edinburgh housing area in each of the past five years catering to the special needs of (a) single people, (b) single parents, (c) mentally or physically handicapped and (d) the elderly.
