The bulk of the fund assistance is in respect of national schemes run by the training services division of the Manpower Services Commission and although no specific grants were allocated to Aberdeenshire, East individuals in the constituency are likely to have benefited from the national schemes.
There have been no industrial commitments from the European regional development fund in Aberdeenshire, East but, since 1 January 1977, there have been commitments totalling £11,202,392 in respect of infrastructure.
While no private sector loans from the European Investment Bank have been granted in Aberdeenshire, East, Grampian regional council received two loans each of £5 million in 1978 and a loan of £5 million in 1980 for water supply, sewerage, sewage disposal and road development schemes, and the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board received loans of £25 million in 1978, £15 million in 1979 and £10 million in 1980 to help finance the construction of the Peterhead power station.
Funds are also available from the Community for development projects related to energy, but these are negotiated directly with the Commission and my Department has no knowledge of any such grants in Aberdeenshire, East.
