§ Mr. LuceThe Soviet Union has been jamming the BBC Russian service since August 1980 and the Polish service since 30 December 1981, but both services are still being heard in parts of their target areas. Medium wave transmissions of the Polish service remain clear. Russian Service transmissions have been progressively increased from 37½ to 45 hours per week and those of the Polish service from 2¼ to 26½ hours. Her Majesty's Government have made repeated protests to the Soviet and Polish Governments and have condemned jamming in the strongest terms. No explanation for the jamming has been received from either the Polish or Soviet authorities.
