HC Deb 25 March 1982 vol 20 cc418-9W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many previously listed buildings have been removed from the statutory list of buildings of special architectural and historic interest over the past 12 months; and what criteria are used in respect of such decisions.

Mr. Macfarlane

Buildings are removed from the statutory list because

  1. (a) they have lost their qualifying features through, for example, fire, alteration or irreparable dereliction, or
  2. 419
  3. (b) their architectural or historic merits prove to have been misjudged, or
  4. (c) they have been listed in error.

I will write to my hon. Friend with figures for the last 12 months once they have been obtained.
