§ 40. Mr. Stanbrookasked the Attorney-General if he will make a statement on the progress of his discussions with the Attorney-General of the Republic of Ireland concerning extradition arrangements between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
§ The Attorney-GeneralI had two encouraging discussions with the then Attorney-General of the Republic of Ireland, Mr. Sutherland. These were followed up by discussions between our officials. Because of the General Election in the Republic, there then had to be a pause. The new Attorney-General, Mr. Connolly, has only just taken over but I hope that as soon as he has had time to come to grips with this problem, we and our officials will be able to get down again to substantive discussions.
