§ Mr. Greenwayasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if, pursuant to the answer of the Under-Secretary on 19 January, Official Report, c. 141. he will introduce legislation making adult education a duty upon local education authorities.
§ Mr. William SheltonConsideration of changes to the law concerning adult education is part of a wider review of the legal basis of further education which has been undertaken recently. Proposals were set out in the discussion document "The Legal Basis of Further Education", the publication of which was announced to the House on 17 June last. My right hon. Friend is now considering the comments received on this document, including those relating to adult education.
